KUTA, INDONESIA (FEBRUARY 25, 2020): A project to almost double the size of beachfront hotel, Wyndham Garden Kuta Beach Bali, from 155 rooms to 300 rooms is on schedule to be completed by the third quarter of 2022.

When finished, the 143 billion Indonesian Rupiah (IDR 143 billion) development will add a more premium class of hotel room, along with a new pool bar, gymnasium, additional infinity swimming pool and a children’s playground. As part of the project, the day spa will also be relocated to more spacious quarters in the new wing.

Wyndham Garden Kuta Beach Bali concept for development

Hotel Manager Bagus Ngurah said the purpose of the expansion is to enable the hotel to better cater for families and extended stays.

“Wyndham Garden Kuta Beach’s inviting atmosphere, competitive pricing, prime position across the road from the renowned Kuta Beach and, soon, its new facilities – including a playground, gym and additional family pool – will make this the ideal base for families to enjoy their time in Bali,” said Mr Ngurah.

“The additional options onsite will give guests more variety to enjoy during their holiday. The pool bar will be a perfect spot for every occasion, from a family get-together after a day exploring to a sunset cocktail. It will offer light meals, snacks, a diverse drinks menu, a range of live international sports on TV and a pool deck, which will be used during the day for group yoga sessions,” he added.

Wyndham Garden Kuta Beach currently boasts an existing ground level pool, rooftop pool overlooking the ocean, all-day dining restaurant, a bar, a day spa and a meeting room for seminars and events.

The new Premier Deluxe rooms are approximately 31 square metres large, with an additional six-square metre furnished patio or balcony, and feature complimentary Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a sofa bed, working desk, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, and 50-inch Smart TV capable of streaming or casting.

The new wing will put a contemporary spin on traditional Balinese design, featuring rooms with cool tiled flooring, large and colourful artwork immortalising the cultural heritage of the Island of Gods, and a calming colour scheme inspired by Kuta Beach, which is just metres away. Ground floor rooms will provide direct access to the new pool.

“This ambitious development has been our vision for this property for many years and we are proud to see it taking shape,” said Mr Sonny Inayatkhan, Director of PT Global Bali Investama, which owns Wyndham Garden Kuta Beach.

“We chose to press on with the project during the COVID-19 pandemic and, while there have been some challenging moments, we are on schedule to finish at a time when international travel will be resurgent. Tourism in Bali has suffered a severe downturn since 2020 but we believe this island has a strong offering for travellers and will recover quickly once restrictions are finally eased.”

PT Wyndham Hotel Management, which manages Wyndham Garden Kuta Beach, predicts the hotel will achieve occupancies of around 60 per cent upon opening the new wing, provided the pandemic restrictions on travel have eased.

The company is a subsidiary of Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific and manages 10 properties across Indonesia, including hotels in Bali, Lombok, Jakarta, Solo, Palembang and Surabaya, under the Wyndham, Wyndham Garden, Ramada by Wyndham and Days Inn by Wyndham brands.

CLARK, PHILIPPINES (30 December 2021) — Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific Philippines has relaunched its “Save the Turtles” project with the Pawikan Conservation Center (PCC) in Morong, Bataan.

Through the company’s sustainability program WYNDGreen, the employees raised funds by selling activity t-shirts donating all proceeds to PCC and volunteered to clean Nagbalayong beach where turtles usually lay their eggs. Wyndham has also donated disinfecting alcohol, trash bags, and bins, which are much-needed by the center.

The PCC started as a community-based program in the coastal community of Nagbalayong devoted to rescuing, protecting, and propagating marine turtles. Its volunteers patrol the beach’s six-kilometer stretch to place the eggs in the center’s “Hatchery” and protect them from poachers or animals that prey on them.

“We are pleased to relaunch this project that we started before the pandemic, as we know that it will greatly support not just the PCC but also the ecosystem in the area. The turtles have major roles in maintaining the health of our seas and oceans,” said Gloria Llamas, Director of Operations of Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific in Clark.

The COVID-19 pandemic has badly hit the PCC with lockdowns and border restrictions prohibiting visitors. The volunteer-led organization also struggled to secure donor funding for its operations due to the pandemic.

“We have released over 200,000 turtles to the ocean since we began our operations. With the help of private donors like Wyndham Destinations, we will be able to continue our mission of protecting and propagating marine turtles in Bataan,” said Manolo Ibias, Chairperson of PCC.

Llamas also shared that her team members collected three sacks of garbage in just 30 minutes of cleaning during the company’s beach cleanup. The team picked up plastic straws and bags, cigarette butts, old fishing nets, and facemasks.

Wyndham Destinations employees after the beach cleanup.

According to the World Wildlife Fund, 52% of the world’s turtles have eaten plastic waste. Plastic bags look similar to jellyfish for turtles, while fishing nets look like tasty seaweeds. Also, hundreds of marine turtles die every year after getting entangled in discarded fishing nets and nylon fishing lines.

The PCC has also been a sanctuary for injured sea turtles rescued by the fisherfolks and volunteers of the organization. The turtles are being treated and rehabilitated until they are healthy and strong enough to return to their habitat.

Officially opened in October 2019, Wyndham Destinations in Clark supports Wyndham’s global offices and club resorts across Asia and the Pacific, USA and Europe.

Wyndham Destinations has rolled out sustainability initiatives across its offices and resorts such as eliminating the use of plastic straws and utensils, use of bamboo key cards and LED lighting, waste segregation and recycling programs.
